2 more pilgrims die in separate accidents in Gujarat

A man was run over by some vehicle near Dholka, a bus hit a woman pilgrim near Limbadi, killing her on the spot.

In two separate accidents, two more pilgrims on their way to the Bhadiyad Peer Dargah in Dolka taluka of Ahmedabad district were killed and one seriously injured on Friday. While a man was run over by some vehicle near Dholka, a bus hit a woman pilgrim near Limbadi, killing her on the spot.

A police source said the body of an unidentified man, who was apparently trod over by some vehicle, was found near Dholka on Dholka-Bagodara highway. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape after the alleged accident, the source added.

The police were informed by people who were marching towards the Bhadiyad Peer Dargah for the annual Urs. "We have asked the people residing in nearby areas to help us identify the person," the source said.

The police are trying to know about the vehicle which hit the unidentified man killing him on the spot. "He seems to be a pilgrim on his way to the Dargah," the police source said.
In another accident, a speeding bus hit a women pilgrim and a 14-year-old girl when they were standing on the roadside near Limbadi in Surendranagar district. "They were on their way to the Bhadiyad Peer Dargah," a source in Dolka police told DNA.

The woman, identified as Husaina Iqbal, 22, was waiting for some other vehicle after the tyre of the rickshaw she was travelling got punctured. She was rushed to a hospital in Limbadi town but later succumbed to her injuries. The injured girl Karishma Qureshi, 14, too was admitted to a hospital in the town.
