Two children died of severe burn injuries in Juhapura on Wednesday. According to Vejalpur police, the children, aged three, were cousins and were stuck in a Maxx jeep outside their home after the fire broke out in the vehicle.

Aman Razzaq Ali Saiyad and Zeba Aslam Saiyad got into the Maxx jeep parked outside their house in Makkanagar, near Sankalitnagar of Juhapura at 1.30 pm on Wednesday. According to JH Jalu, senior police inspector of Vejalpur, a guest at Razzaq Ali's residence parked his Maxx jeep near Ali's residence.

The guest went inside the house leaving the door open. At that time, Aman and Zeba entered the jeep. "They might have light up a matchstick kept inside. In the process, the upholstery of seats and the children's clothes might have caught fire," said Jalu.
When the fire broke out, the children cried for help. They couldn't come out of the car on their own. On learning about the fire, locals and relatives rushed and pulled them out.

Both were admitted to VS Hospital. However, doctors declared them dead around 4.30pm.

Vejalpur police called the FSL team to examine the Maxx jeep to know the exact reason behind fire breakout.

Primary investigation by police revealed that kids might have attempted to light up the matchstick which might have caused the fire. There is also a possibility of a short circuit inside the jeep. "We are taking FSL's help to know the exact reason," said Jalu.
