The CBI on Saturday filed a detailed charge sheet in the illegal mining activities carried out by the former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy-owned Obulapuram Mining Company.

The charge sheet was submitted to the special judge for CBI cases in Hyderabad on Saturday.

The charge sheet has been filed two days ahead of the 90-day limit prescribed by the statute for filing. Janardhana Reddy and his brother-in- law Srinivas Reddy, the prime accused in the case, were arrested on September 5, 2011 from Bellary, Karnataka.

In addition to the duo, the CBI had also arrested Rajagopal, former mines director in the Andhra Pradesh government.

A 1988 batch IAS officer, Y Srilakshmi, too, was arrested by the CBI for her alleged involvement in the illegal mining activities carried out by the Reddys.

According to sources, the CBI would file a supplementary charge sheet naming her soon.

The charge sheet has reportedly confirmed that the Reddys had carried out large scale illegal mining operations including trespass into the mines, which did not belong to them.
