17 injured in clash between police, protesters in Uttar Pradesh

Agitated over an accident locals staged a demonstration and blocked the Etawah-Kanpur road. The demonstrators had a scuffle with the police when they attempted to clear the road block.

Seventeen people, including five policemen, were today injured when locals clashed with the police during a protest against the death of a youth in a road accident in Ikdil area, official sources said here.
   
Jogendra Jatav (27) was killed when the motorcycle he was riding was hit by a truck near Manikpur turn this morning, they said.
   
Agitated over the incident locals staged a demonstration and blocked the Etawah-Kanpur road, sources said, adding the demonstrators had a scuffle with the police when they attempted to clear the road block.
   
When the police used force to disperse the protesters, they engaged in brick batting in which 17 people, including five policemen, were injured, sources said.
