About 150 supporters of Karnataka health minister B Sreeramulu today emulated their leader's act of tonsuring his head to express solidarity with his padayatra across Bellary to counter that of the Congress on illegal mining.
Among those who tonsured their heads were two corporators of Bellary city corporation and five of Sreeramulu's women supporters.
The Congress 16-day 'Bellary chalo' padayatra which began in Bangalore on July 25 drew an unexpected response from Sreeramulu, who tonsured his head and went on a counter padayatra, sporting black robes in Bellary district last week and addressed rallies in several areas.
He said that he has undertaken the exercise to ward off the 'evil eye' of the Congress on Bellary.
