15 shops gutted in midnight fire in West Bengal

The fire, which broke out in a tyre-tube repairing shop on Hill Cart Road, just opposite to the offices of the Siliguri-Jalpaigui Development Authority and Provident Fund spread to a hotel.

At least 15 shops were gutted in a midnight fire in the heart of Siliguri.

The fire, which broke out in a tyre-tube repairing shop on Hill Cart Road, just opposite to the offices of the Siliguri-Jalpaigui Development Authority and Provident Fund spread to a hotel.

A few gas cylinders kept in the hotel premises exploded intensifying the fire, the police said.

Six fire tenders faught for two hours to establish control over the blaze. However, there was no no report of any casualty or injury. The damage, if any, is being assessed.
