10,437 benefit from Ahmedabad's Garib mela

With a view to ensure that the welfare projects by the district collectorate and Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) reach the actual beneficiaries, Garib Kalian Mela was held in the city on Friday at ST Workshop, Naroda.

A total of 10,437 people benefited from the mela held by the state government on Friday. A variety of gifts like business kit, sewing machines, cheques, tricycles, and wheel-chairs worth Rs235 lakh were distributed.  Under projects like Balika Samruddhi and Toilet Yojana and others, children with visual impairment were provided spectacles, health kit, vidyalaxmi bond and vegetable vendors got hand carts.

Dignitaries present at the event included minister of state for legal and parliamentary affairs, MP Kirit Solanki, mayor Asit Vora, deputy mayor Darshana Waghela, standing committee chairman Bhupendra Patel, leader of BJP Gautam Shah and MLA Geeta Patel, among others.
