The winter session of the Bihar legislature, commencing from November 27, is likely to be a stormy one with the Opposition ready to target the government over the multi-crore Srijan Scam and Toilet Scam, which surfaced in the state over the last few months.

The session will witness five sittings, and the government is likely to introduce some important bills besides the second complementary budget.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), which is the single largest party with 80 MLAs but sits in the Opposition after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar dumped the Mahagathbandhan to join hands with the BJP, held a meeting of the legislators on Sunday evening. “We will not interrupt the Assembly if we get satisfactory answers for the adjournment motions moved by us,” said Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the leader of the Opposition in the Bihar legislative assembly.

The Opposition has plans to target the government over “deteriorating law and order in the state, scams, health facilities
and education.” “We will show a mirror to the claims of good governance made by the NDA government,” said a Congress leader. The three MLAs of CPI (ML-L) will also target the government over “increased crime graph and communal violence.”

Meanwhile, leaders of the JD-U and BJP said the treasury benches were ready with their answers for the Opposition.

“The developmental works done by the Nitish government will be an answer to all their questions,” said a JD-U leader. The JD-U and BJP will hold their legislature party meets on Monday.

Assembly speaker Vijay Choudhary and Council chairperson Harun Rashid have sought cooperation from all members of the smooth functioning of the House. The session will conclude on December 1.
