Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Wednesday reiterated that the party will contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election in alliance with Shiv Sena.

Shah made the remarks while Speaking exclusively to Zee 24 Taas chief editor Vijay Kuvalekar. The BJP chief also spoke about the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP government.

The BJP chief said that the meeting with Uddhav Thackeray is routine and all issues will be discussed. "It is not I am meeting him for the first time, I will meet him for the fifth times since the government is formed in 2014," Shah said.

When asked about Shiv Sena expressing their displeasure, Shah said that they the party takes the emotions of the alliance partners very seriously. "I have full confidence we will contest 2019 Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly elections together."

Shah also said that when there are polls, there are changes in the alliance, and on the basis of five-years of experience they (partners) decide whether to stay together or not.

He also said that he doesn't thing Uddhav Thackeray expressing displeasure towards them is a big issue. "It may be for media, but not for me," Shah said.

Shah's reaction comes even after the Shiv Sena today questioned the BJP's outreach programme after suffering defeats in bypolls and asserted it will fight all upcoming elections solo, attacking the party on a day its president Amit Shah meets Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.

"Winds of change of governance are blowing in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Change of governance is inevitable in Maharashtra as well. Amit Shah intends to win 350 seats in the Lok Sabha on the BJP's own strength. He says Ram Mandir will be built then. His stubbornness needs to be saluted," the Sena said in an editorial in Saamna.

Shah is in Mumbai today to meet Thackeray as part an effort to reach out to NDA allies ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Earlier, upon his arrival in the city, Shah had a brief meeting with Fadnavis, Maharashtra BJP president Raosaheb Danve, Education Minister Vinod Tawde and BJP general secretary (organisation) Vijay Puranik at Rangsharda auditorium in suburban Bandra.

As part of the mega public drive, 4,000 BJP functionaries will contact one lakh people, who are well known in their respective fields, to spread the word about the NDA government's programmes and policies launched since 2014.
