Will back UPA despite Congress defeat in polls: Farooq Abdullah

New and Renewable Energy Minister Farooq Abdullah said Monday the National Conference will continue to support the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) despite the huge defeat of the Congress in the assembly polls.

"We are with UPA... people fall and rise, it does not mean we will leave our allies in difficult times," Abdullah told reporters here in the parliament complex.

His comments came in the wake of huge defeats the Congress suffered in the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Delhi.

Asked about the Congress loss, he said: "There was price rise, and corruption was another issue... Congress lost because of these."
