Uphaar tragedy: Supreme Court agrees to hear review petition

 The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear a review petition filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the victims' association.

The petitioners have sought review of its earlier verdict, in which no jail term was awarded to the Ansals, owners of Uphaar Cinema. As many as 59 people were killed at Uphaar Cinema due to asphyxiation and stampede after a fire that broke out when an overheated generator exploded in the building's basement during the screening of blockbuster 'Border' on June 13, 1997.
