Two terrorists gunned down in Kashmir

With the latest success, the number of terrorists killed so far this year has reached 180 in the Kashmir Valley.

Security forces repulsed a terrorist attack on Monday evening when they gunned down two ultras who fired at a patrol team at Zachaldara area of Handwara in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

The gun battle ensued after the terrorists opened fire on a joint team of police, Army and the Central Reserve Police Force at Galganzer village, prompting the forces to retaliate.

“Two terrorists neutralized in Zachaldara Handwara in North Kashmir in a joint operation of Jammu and Kashmir police, Army and CRPF. Good work. Keep it up!” tweeted Dr Shesh Paul Vaid, director general of police, Jammu and Kashmir.

With the latest success, the number of terrorists killed so far this year has reached 180 in the Kashmir Valley. “Coordinated operations by Army, CRPF & JKP will continue”, tweeted Chinar Corps of the Indian army. 

Sources said that nearly 70 security personnel have lost their lives in the line of duty this year, while an equal number of ultras have infiltrated into Kashmir in the past 10 months. 

Last year, an estimated 112 terrorists had managed to sneak into the Valley, compared to 33 in 2015. The figures were 65 and 97 in 2014 and 2013 respectively.

According to sources, an estimated 70 terrorists have infiltrated into Kashmir in the past 10 months. An equal number  of security personnel have lost their lives in the line of duty.
