In an obvious reference to AICC President Rahul Gandhi’s criticism to his government promoting industrial houses, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the Congress for ‘insulting’ top industrialists in the country and calling them ‘chor-lutera’ (thief).

Laying the foundation stones for 81 projects worth Rs 60,000 crore in 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh, the PM said that he did not mind standing with industrialists for inclusive growth of the country despite facing criticism from the opposition.

PM Modi also dared the Congress and other opposition parties saying, “Those trying to find a case against me will be disappointed as more cases will come out against them. I have ruled the country only for four years whereas they destroyed India for 70 years,” he said.

“When your intentions are clear, you carry on with resolve. We don’t fear standing with top industrialists. But there are people who do this behind curtains. You will not find a single photograph of them with industrialists in public but there is not a single businessman who did not run around to their residence to bow down,” he alleged.

To take his point further, Modi referred to saffron-clad Amar Singh sitting on the front row saying that “Amar Singh has all records with him to expose their (Congress leaders) behind the curtain activities with top industrialists of the country.”

“Mahatma Gandhi was clean in his intentions and he never had any hesitation in staying and standing with Birlaji. If a farmer, labour, banker, financer, government employee etc contribute in the growth of the country then these top industrialists also have made significant contribution in making India. Should they be insulted or called chor-lutera (thief)?” fumed the PM.

“What kind culture is this to attribute such sobriquets on those making significant contribution to industrial development of the country? I stand with them. But those who did wrong will either have to run away from the country or will have to spent life in jail. But even this was not being done earlier. People know it well in whose Aircrafts they (Congress leaders) travel,” pointed Modi.

The PM claimed that his government was working with the approach of ‘holistic vision and inclusive action’ and he was happy that the Yogi government has made a remarkable achievement in record five months to bring an investment of Rs 60,000 crore after signing MoUs worth Rs 4.68 lakh crore in February during UP Investors’ Summit.

“It is not a small amount. It is huge and something unimaginable. Instead of calling it a Ground Breaking Ceremony, the achievement of bringing Rs 60,000 crore investment in record five months should be referred to as ‘Record Breaking Ceremony,” said the PM.

Congratulating Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his Cabinet and bureaucrats, the PM said that after heading Gujarat for long, he knows what hurdles comes in way of attracting investments in the state. “Bringing investment was a big challenge in Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath has turned that challenge into opportunities for investors by changing policies and creating a conducive atmosphere to speed up industrial growth,” said the PM.

“Industrial development was earlier restricted to few pockets of Uttar Pradesh but Yogi government has taken it to all parts of the state for an overall development of Uttar Pradesh,” he added.
