Temple car festival celebrated

Lt Governor Kiran Bedi, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and officials of various departments were among those who pulled the chariot of the famous shrine of Sengazhuneer Amman temple in Veerampattinam coastal village on the occasion of annual car festival today.

Bedi and other went round the temple after offering worship at the sanctum sanctorum.

The temple is among the ancient shrines in Puducherry and according to the tradition the Head of the State should drag the chariot on the occasion of the car festival.

Commissioner of Hindu Religious Institutions Thillaivelu made elaborate arrangements for the festival.

Distribution of food packets by philanthropists and various organisations added to the features of the festival.
