Swine flu causes 5 deaths in Haryana

Five persons have succumbed to swine flu in Haryana in the past few days out of a total 29 patients, who have been tested positive for H1N1 influenza so far, state health officials said on Saturday.

Five persons have succumbed to swine flu in Haryana in the past few days out of a total 29 patients, who have been tested positive for H1N1 influenza so far, state health officials said on Saturday.

"In Haryana, 29 positive cases of swine flu have so far been come to light of which five casualties have been reported," an official spokesman of Haryana Health department said today. Those who have been tested positive are from several districts, including Gurgaon, Hisar, Jind, Karnal, Rohtak and Fatehabad, official said.

However, the health department said adequate arrangements for the treatment of patients suffering from swine flu have been made. "Adequate stock of Tamiflu has been made available, ventilators provided and isolation wards have been set up in all hospitals of the state," he said.

"Necessary instructions have been issued to the civil surgeons to take all precautionary measures to check the spread of this virus as well as tackle the swine flu cases in the state," he said. Asking people not to panic as the situation is well under control, he said necessary steps have been taken by the department and a complete vigil has been maintained on this issue.
