PM Narendra Modi to unveil Lord Vishweshwara's statue in London

Prime Minister Modi, who will also inaugurate a memorial at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar's London house, said the Indian students in the UK will be inspired by the great leader's ideals of living.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said that he would be unveiling the statue of Lord Vishweshwara in London during his visit to the United Kingdom next month.

"Years ago, Lord Vishweshwara strived for democracy and empowerment of women and the world should know about it. The fact that his statue will be venerated on the soil in London shows how far the great men from our ancient culture thought," he said in his "Mann ki Baat" programme.

Prime Minister Modi, who will also inaugurate a memorial at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar's London house, said the Indian students in the UK will be inspired by the great leader's ideals of living.

"Baba Ambedkar's message of seeking knowledge and then using it for the country will be an inspiration for our students who go there to study," he said.

The bungalow on King Henry Road, NW3 in London was purchased by the Maharashtra Government in September for Rs. 31 crores with the purpose of transforming it into an international museum and memorial of Dr. Ambedkar.

Prime Minister Modi had earlier laid the foundation stone of Dr Ambedkar's memorial during his visit to Mumbai on October 11.
