Pakistan's ex-prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has invited Amitabh Bachchan, who has said he will undertake the visit to the country whenever he gets an opportunity.

The PML-Q Senator had written a letter to the Bollywood superstar, who has ancestral roots in Pakistan, saying: "Since your mother was born and bred in Faisalabad district of Punjab, you should come here and visit the places where your mother spent time. Your visit will also promote peace between the two countries."

Replying to his letter, Bachchan assured him that he will cross the border whenever he gets the opportunity.

Bachchan said: "As you rightly expressed, my mother's ancestral roots go back to Lyallpur now Faisalabad (district of Punjab, some 120 kilometres from Lahore), where my mother was born and to Lahore Government College where she spent her educational life.

"My grandfather was a prominent Bar-at-Law and functioned out of Karachi. He was also in a Revenue Ministerial post for the erstwhile Punjab Government now in Pakistan." Bachchan said in the letter that he had "very vivid and emotional memories" of well-wishers from Pakistan who prayed for his recovery during his injury on the sets of 'Coolie'.

"I have always never had sufficient words to express my gratitude to them," he wrote in the letter.

"I am most grateful to you for your kind invitation and shall most certainly keep this in mind whenever there is an opportunity to visit your country," Bachchan added.
