A man was injured in an attack allegedly by six persons of another community when he was returning after casting his vote in Panchayat polls at Sindhawli village, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place under Mansoorpur Police Station on Saturday evening when the victim, Manget Ram, was allegedly beaten up by six persons over poll-related enmity, they said.

A case has been registered against the accused under IPC sections 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).

Senior police officers rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, police said, adding, the accused have not been arrested yet. Security has been tightened and extra police force has been deployed in the village.
