Jamui Lok Sabha constituency, one of the 40 in Bihar, is currently held by the LJP’s Chirag Paswan who won the seat in 2014 by defeating RJD's Sudhansu Kumar Bhaskar with a margin of nearly 86,000 votes. Paswan will again contest from the seat as NDA candidate on LJP ticket. This is one of the six seats that came to LJP under the seat-sharing arrangement by NDA constituents.

This year, Chirag Paswan, son of LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, will face Bihar Mahagathbandhan's Bhudeo Choudhary who will contest on an RLSP ticket.

The Bihar Mahagathbandhan comprises Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, Rashtriya Lok Samta Party (RLSP), Hindustan Awam Morcha (HAM) and Vikasshil Insan Party (VIP).

The BJP has also forged an alliance with Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).

The polling will be held in first phase of Lok Sabha elections on April 11. The results of the Lok Sabha election 2019 will be declared on May 23.
