The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has advised all news channels not to carry the story related to an interview of one of the convicts in the December 16, 2012 Delhi gangrape case. Official sources said that an advisory has been sent to all news channels in this regard.

In an interview to BBC that is slated to telecast on International Women's Day, Delhi gangrape convict Mukesh Singh says women are far more responsible for rape than men. He also goes ahead to say that women who went out at night are to blame themselves if they drew attention from molesters or rapists.

The documentary called India's daughter is directed by BAFTA award winning director Leslie Udwin.

The victim of the fateful evening of December 16, 2012, a medical student, was on her way after watching a movie with her friend when six men offered them a lift in a mini bus. The victim was raped repeatedly by the six men and later she and her friend were beaten up by them. The victim succumbed to her injuries in a hospital in Singapore. Protests erupted across the country. In Delhi, protests were staged outside Jantar Mantar, Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhawan where demonstrators and police clashed.

The parents of the December 16, 2012 gangrape victim also reacted angrily to the remarks made by the convict.
