Foreign Secretary Jaishankar meets Afghan Chief Executive

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Wednesday met Afghanistan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul on the final day of his four-day SAARC Yatra. Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin took to twitter to share news of their meeting.

Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar on Wednesday met Afghanistan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah in Kabul on the final day of his four-day SAARC Yatra. Ministry of External Affairs official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin took to twitter to share news of their meeting.

"SAARC Yatra. Foreign Secy in Afghanistan. Meets Chief Executive Officer @DrAAbdullah in Kabul," he wrote, also posting a picture of their encounter.

The Foreign Secretary began his SAARC yatra with Bhutan, later travelling to Bangladesh. On Tuesday, Jaishankar met his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry in Islamabad, the first meeting between the two Foreign Secretaries since New Delhi had called off talks in August 2014.

He will undertake visits to Sri Lanka, Maldives and Nepal later. The Foreign Secretary's schedule was announced days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted on February 13 that Jaishankar would be leaving on a SAARC Yatra.
