Chhattisgarh: Acid attack made on activist Soni Sori in Bastar

Adivasi school teacher turned politician, Soni Sori was attacked with acid near Kodenar in Bastar.

Sori was attacked when she was returning from Banjarin Ghati on Saturday night, reports ANI. Sori has been admitted to Gidam hospital in Jagdalpur. 

Soni was reportedly receiving several threats for her efforst for the upliftment of adivasis. However, more details on the incident are awaited. 

Soni Sori contested in the 2014 general elections from Bastar for the Aam Aadmi Party, however, she lost to Dinesh Kashyap of BJP. 

In 2011, Chhattisgarh Police arrested Sori on charges of acting as a conduit for Maoists. In April 2013, she was acquitted in six of the eight cases filed against her.
