A day after reports that former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav left the palatial government bungalow in shambles, a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government on Sunday asked for an investigation into the matter.

Akhilesh, who vacated the government residence after the Supreme Court order and shifted to a private villa earlier this week, has reportedly taken away imported tiles, ACs, imported ceiling, garden lights, bathroom fittings etc.

"Removing of ACs and tiles shouldn't have been done because these are govt property. He has violated Supreme Court order. Investigation needed," Transport minister (MoS- Independent Charge) Swatantra Dev Singh told ANI.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader Sunil Yadav alleged that the damages inside the premises were ordered by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath himself to malign Akhilesh Yadav's public image.

"After handing over keys of the govt bungalow, the damage inside the premises was ordered by CM Yogi Adityanath himself. This was done just to malign Akhilesh Yadav's image in public because CM is frustrated after losing a series of by polls," he said.

Yadav handed the keys of 4-Vikramaditya Marg to the department only late Friday night after vacating the bungalow on June 2.  Officials of the Uttar Pradesh Estate department who visited the palatial bungalow on Saturday morning were shocked to see it in complete disarray. They have accused Yadav of leaving the palatial bungalow in shambles.

A senior officer of the department alleged that imported Turkish tiles from the swimming pool, Italian marble from floors, ACs, imported ceiling and garden lights, bathroom fittings, etc were missing from the bungalow.

The house was renovated in 2016 at a cost of over Rs 45 crores was decorated as per Yadav and his family’s taste.

Even imported decorative and rare plants were taken away by Yadavs to their new Villa in API Ansal City. The swimming pool and floors were dug to take out Turkish tiles and Italian marbles. Many ACs are missing from bedrooms, study room and other places.

“We are making a list of the missing items and assessing the damage done to the house. We will seek legal opinion and then serve a notice to the owner for the recovery of items missing and cost of damage done to the government property,” stated a senior official of the Estate department.

Akhilesh, who was in Vrindavan along with his family on Saturday to pay obeisance to Lord Krishna in Baanke Bihari temple, said he will return all items missing and damaged if the state government provides a list to him

“It was an attempt to tarnish my political image. One should learn from the BJP how to do,” he said.

Yadav claimed that he left behind many of his personal items including rare plants and trees behind in the bungalow. “The government should return them to me,” he demanded.
