Life has come full circle for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as the party which was born of public protests at Jantar Mantar is back to its birthplace this Sunday (August 3) where it would be accusing BJP of running away from holding fresh Delhi elections.

The first big public meeting, on August 3, also marks party's return to protest politics which it had apparently shunned after the infamous Rail Bhawan protest against Delhi Police earlier this year.

AAP leaders admit that situation in some ways is like pre-December 2013 for the party when they had not won 28 seats and was being written off by everyone including the former Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit.

"After May 16 results, people tried to write us off — both Congress and BJP. But in reality our vote share did increase. However, we can't live in glory of 28 seats forever and thus party has worked from scratch all over again to win back Delhiites confidence," party sources told dna.

"It was a conscious decision to not protest at the drop of a hat after Railway Bhawan as party had got feedback that people did not want it. But today conditions are different and require a public mobilisation. The protests, however, would still not be that frequent," said party sources.

But now AAP leaders said they are have decided to go for the big mobilisation to create momentum.

AAP's Dilip K Pandey, who is in-charge of party's Delhi unit, said what else AAP can do when the whole machinery including Delhi Police is on directions of BJP working against us and not allowing us to reach out to people.

"Our leaders and volunteers are being arrested for putting posters even for asking them to come to this meeting even as one can find BJP posters unchecked at all corners of the city. How can application of one law (against posters) be different on two parties? It seems Delhi Police is clearly being misused by the BJP," Pandey told dna.

AAP's leaders and cadre, meanwhile, is back to people's doorsteps seeking support. Also as AAP has clearly ruled out fighting assembly elections in any other state for the time being, all its focus is on re-capturing the power in national capital.
