"Eleven officials and employees of Chhattisgarh State Civil Supplies Corporation and an official of the Chhattisgarh State Warehousing Corporation were apprehended following the recovery of unaccounted cash and disproportionate assets worth crores of rupees from them last month," ACB Superintendent of Police Rajnesh Singh told PTI.
Those arrested are -- Manager of Civil Supplies Corporation (Raipur headquarter) Shivshankar Bhatt, Raipur district manager Teekamdas Heerchandani, junior technical assistant (Raigarh district) Kshirsagar Patel, junior technical assistant (Jagdalpur district headquarter) Satish Kumar Kaivartya, Bilaspur district manager Kaushal Kishore Yadu, company secretary Sandeep Agrawal, Surajpur district manager (in-charge) R N Singh, Kanker district manager Ashok Soni, assistant accounts officer Raipur Sudhir Kumar Bhole and Branch Manager of State Warehousing Corporation (Balod district) Dilip Kumar Sharma, the SP said.
Besides, two contractual employees -- R P Pathak and Devendra Singh Kushwaha (assistant manager, quality) have also been arrested, he said.
They have been booked under Sections 109 (punishment of abatement), 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 420 (cheating) and relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, he said, adding that these officials were suspended following the raids.
On February 12-13, the ACB had conducted simultaneous raids at 25 premises of the civil supplies department and its officials and recovered unaccounted cash to the tune of crores of rupees.
In the ongoing budget session, the state government had said that during the raids around Rs 3,64,63,320 cash and unaccounted assets worth Rs 2,74,10,620 was seized from the officials of the department.
Subsequently, 18 officials-employees of the department had been suspended while services of two contractual employees of the department were terminated. Official of the state warehousing corporation had also been suspended.
