A lot of questions are being answered after the digital download of 'Avengers: Infinity War.'
Now that the digital download for Marvel tentpole Avengers: Infinity War is available, directors Joe and Anthony Russo did a Q&A session to promote the movie. During which they revealed what happened to Thanos' hand and the Infinity Gauntlet after he snapped the fingers to wipe out half the universe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Those who have watched the movie know that when during the 'Battle of Wakanda,' Thanos gets his hands on Mind Stone by killing The Vision. Thor strikes the mad Titan with his Stormbreaker but instead of hitting his head, he jabs it into the villain's shoulder. Big mistake, because his last act before disappearing from Earth was to destroy half of the universe and take out so many superheroes in the process.
When we see Thanos in a pretty bad shape in an epilogue scene with a damaged Infinity gauntlet still on his hand.
What happened there?
Russo brothers revealed that wielding such power has its consequences.
One fan, during the Q&A, asked if Thanos will be able to heal after Thor's blow as well as if he could use the Infinity Stones to fix the gauntlet.
"Perhaps, but there is a cost to using the power of the Stones,"
The directors' answer is in sync with what we saw in the movies. Acquiring each stone cost Thanos something. The biggest of them all was the life of his daughter Gamora.
While listening to the director's commentary for Avengers: Infinity War, Russos touch upon the subject.
"See there, with his Gauntlet and the arm, the power that it takes to use all six Stones is significant, and clearly damaged the Gauntlet and damaged Thanos permanently," say the directors.
"You look closely at the very last scene, it damages his arm dramatically. And that moment when he clicks his fingers sends him into this ethereal plan inside of the Soul Stone where as part of his quote unquote hero’s journey in the film, he has one last moment to convey a sense of guilt about what he's done. It illustrates what a complicated character he is. So, to clarify, it's a spiritual representation of her and obviously that's something that the Soul Stone has power to do. But really, it's there to illustrate his pain and his guilt. I wouldn't read much more into it beyond that," Joe Russo told ComicBook.com
These revealation now make you wonder if the damage is severe, how will Thanos fight rest of the Avengers in the upcoming ensemble movie set to release in 2019.
