English director Tom Hooper has come up with a strong contender for this year's Oscars race. The trailer for his new movie The Danish Girl, based on the life of transgender artist Lili Elbe, who was the first recipient of sexual reassignment surgery, has been released.

Hopper who is known for iconic movies like The King's Speech and Les Miserables has cast Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne to play the role of Lili Elbe while Alicia Vikander plays the role of Lili's wife Gerda.

The Danish Girl is set in the 1920s era, therefore Lili's courage to accept herself and do something about it in that time, with the support of Gerda, fills you with emotions and you cannot help rooting for her!

The trailer comes with promise that the movie will be a visual treat that can resonate with people today. Cinematography by Danny Cohen is simply breathtaking. Cohen has framed the change and acceptance Eddie Redmayne's Lili goes through in soft pastels-like lighting and emphasised the boldness of that decision by focusing on her red lips.

Redmayne and Vikander, from the looks of the trailer, have given more than what was expected of them. They lift your spirits, then break your heart and later make you fall in love with the character.

Ben Whishaw, Amber Heard, Matthias Schoenaerts make up the remaining cast. The movie will premier at the Venice Film Festival and is part of the Toronto International Film Festival.
