Censorship is something that’s been in the news constantly for a while. While filmmakers have had enough showdowns with the CBFC in India, it seems to be a problem across the world. Now one man in the UK, Charlie Lyne is making the country's Censor Board watch a 607-minute video showing paint dry. The BBFC watched Lyne's film over Monday and Tuesday.

Sounds like a snoozefest. Though we must say, that it still seems better than the recent movies that Bollywood has forced us to watch.

Late Tuesday, the BBFC confirmed that it has given the film a U certificate with a note saying the film's description 'may contain spoilers'. The note also said, "Paint Drying is a film showing paint drying on a wall. It contains no material likely to offend or harm."

In an AMA on Reddit, Lyne wrote, “About a year ago, I went to a filmmaker open day held by the BBFC at their offices in Soho. I'd expected to see quite a lot of conflict between the BBFC examiners and the visiting filmmakers whose work was at the mercy of the board, but there was nothing like that. Most of the filmmakers—even those who'd had trouble with the BBFC in the past—seemed totally resigned to the censorship imposed by the board, even supportive of it. I think that shocked me into action.”

Imagine if the drying of the paint happened in an irregular manner causing in a one a trillion event for the paint to dry in a certain way leaving the shape of a wet, glistening penis, orgasming at about the 300th minute mark.

Op's reference to their treatment of fight club shows they do in fact function as censors. Requiring cuts to get an 18 rating is definitely censorship, not informing the public

'Brilliant White' felt like it had a certain Tom Sawyer charm that matched the simplicity of the premise.

Could you not release a trailer. Movie companies regularly release promos which are yet to be certified. Deadpool had 2 trailers on the web before it got its 18/R rating. Watching 2 1/2 minutes of paint drying might interest me in wanting to sit through the whole 10 hours if you make the trailer interesting enough - drips and trapped paintbrush hairs, or a morgan freeman voiceover for example. Coming this fall. A room with four walls is about to get a makeover nobody will forget... TBC
