While YRF announced that their Salman Khan starrer Sultan will be releasing on Eid next year, Riteish Sidhwani too has gone on records, claiming that their film starring Shah Rukh Khan will indeed hit screens on Eid 2016. Now that means Bollywood's gearing up for the Colossal clash of the decade!

That's what you call a Clash of the Titans. Who would have imagined Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will battle it out at the box office on the same day? Well, it's indeed happening. At least for now! Why? Both YRF and Excel Entertainment have announced that their films- Sultan starring Salman Khan and Raees starring Shah Rukh Khan respectively - are eyeing for an Eid 2016 release.

If you remember it was only a few days back that Salman had gone on Twitter, thrashing all fans for the fan created wars between the three superstar Khans and even announced that he would rather quit Twitter if his fans decided to spread negativity about the other two Khans, who are also his friends. Cut to now and you have Salman and SRK battling for a release date. While it was rather speculated that one of them might budge and shift their release dates, that thought can now be thrown out of window. Here's why!

ANNOUNCEMENTS!

Salman is yet to start shooting for Sultan, which will only begin in November this year, after he wraps up work on Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. On the other hand, SRK who was busy completing YRF's Fan decided to complete the first leg of shooting for Rahul Dholakia's Raees before he headed to Bulgaria to finish Rohit Shetty's Dilwale, that releases this Christmas. But the announcements for Raees' release was made in February earlier this year. Riteish Sidhwani had gone on Twitter to announce that Raees would be releasing on Eid next year. On the other hand, knowing Raees is eyeing a release on Eid 2016, YRF went ahead and unveiled a teaser promo, giving away the theme of Sultan along with its release date.

WHO WILL MOVE?

No one's willing to move. While YRF made an official announcement a day back through their 30 second teaser promo, reports were rife that SRK will now be releasing Raees on a later date. After all, both the actors know what would be at stake if they clash at the box office. Both Sultan and Raees will rather eat into each other's businesses and that would prove detrimental to not just both the films and their producers, but to the box office and the film industry as well. Remember the Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son of Sardaar clash? Both films crossed the 100 crore mark but they would have performed much better, if they had a solo release. Still, that SRK v/s Ajay Devgn. This one's SRK v/s Salman, undoubtedly the Colossal clash, which if happens, will go down the history of Bollywood for sure! One of them definitely has to make way for the other. Everyone thought it would be Raees which will shift their release but Riteish Sidhwani took to Twitter to rubbish such claims.

Not just that, the producer also teased by revealing that the fans will be in for a surprise this Eid.

Does this mean the first look poster or the Raees teaser will be out with Bajrangi Bhaijaan itself? You never know! given the growing fondness between our Bollywood's Karan Arjun, it isn't surprising. After all, SRK too unveiled the first look poster of 'brother' Salman's Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

THE PLAN?

SRK has already shot for few portions of Raees before moving on to Dilwale and will resume shooting around October again. He will shoot for a month before he again gets busy with the gruelling promotional schedule for his next with Rohit. After that, he will be busy wrapping the Rahul Dholakia film. Salman, on the other hand, will start shooting for Sultan from November and will be finishing the film as soon as possible. Both the films would be ready for an Eid release. Now, it needs to be seen, what happens next!

PROBABILITIES:

YRF's helming Sultan and SRK's known to be YRF's favourite hero and relationships, as they say, mean everything in Bolly land. Plus, our Badshah too has a film up for release with the production house. Shah Rukh has completed shooting for Fan, another YRF film, which is expected to release early next year, around March end or April beginning. Eid, next year falls in the month of July. Dilwale releases this December. Will SRK take a risk by releasing three of his films in a matter of around 6-7 months? What might happen is YRF might cajole SRK and Raees makers to push their film to the Independence Day week. That will give a little space for SRK too. But that would mean a clash with Ahsutosh Gowariker's Mohenjo Daro starring Hrithik Roshan. So it's a rather complicated decision to make. If not this, the other option is YRF, being close to SRK personally might give in and let him enjoy the Eid release, which would mean that Salman's film will have to find another release date. While nothing is officially confirmed, these are the probable options that the makers have to avoid the big ticket clash!

TWITTER WARS BEGIN!

And as expected, with Riteish Sidhwani's tweets, a new Twitter war has ensued. Between the Shah Rukh and Salman fans. Their fans have stormed the social networking site, talking about their superstar's films and engaging in a new Twitter battle of sorts. #RaeesonEid2016 is trending at the number 1 position while #Eid2016BelongsToSULTAN trends at #3. If this is the case, with just the announcements, no prizes for guessing how it would be at the cash registers if both films indeed clash at the ticket counters! Will it be a box office tsunami or a box office haemorrhage? Chances are for either. Let's just wait and watch how things roll now...
