The movie has been banned by the CBFC as it was " indirectly against Islam and Muslims". Mobasher Hasan, chairman of the CBFC explaining why the decision to not allow screening was made,“Firstly, the film is in Hindi and our ordinance does not allow Hindi films to be screened. Secondly, it is a historical drama that is indirectly against Islam and Muslims,”.

While the Punjab board passed the film cleared the film without any cuts, the Sindh board made cuts 15-10 seconds of the opening sequence of the film.

However, the movie may get another chance as the local distributors have asked for a full board review of it.
