Music director Anirudh made an appearance at an event after many weeks. Looking dashing in a grey suit on the green carpet at the IIFA UTSAVAM in Hyderabad, the young music director was his usual perky self.

Anirudh was awarded the Best Music Director Award for Tamil films for the film Kaththi. Kaththi starred Vijay and was directed by AR Murugadoss. When he got on stage to collect his award, the first thing Anirudh said was, "Usually I don't speak but today I will.  Right from the time of 'Kolaveri Di' there have been problems. During the release of Kaththi too there were issues. What I've learnt is that  we should not bother about the problems but just focus on work."

In December, the 'Beep Song' controversy came up as the song had lyrics that were derogatory to women. Cases were filed against Simbu and Anirudh as well. But the music director had denied any connection with the song.

The music director added, "Thank you for your support over the last four years. I have done 11 films in four years. One thing I will say is that  'Sodanai illamai sadhanai kidaiyadhu' (without sorrow there is no success)."
