Late actress Nirupa Roy, who's played the quintessential maa in a number of yesteryear Bollywood movies, has her real-life sons embroiled in a dispute over her spacious apartment at Nepean Sea Road (Mumbai), and who are now fighting to take over her bedroom, reports Mumbai Mirror. Both the sons, Kiran, 45, and Yogesh, 57, are staking claims over the bedroom, saying their "sentiments" are attached to the said room.

The 3,000 sq ft ground floor house at Embassy Apartments has an 8,000 sq ft garden, and the tussle over it began soon after Nirupa's death in 2004. After the death of Nirupa's husband Kamal Roy in November 2015, the dispute landed in court. And how much is the said property you might wonder? Well, its estimated worth is around Rs 100 crore.

Through a temporary truce, both the sons occupy two bedrooms each, and have equal rights to common areas such as the hall, kitchen, and the garden. One bedroom which is occupied by Kiran and his family, was used by Nirupa and Kamal Roy, and both the brothers now seek exclusive access to that part of the house.

Reportedly, in 2016, Kiran moved the High Court, alleging his elder brother of "threatening and intimidating" him to gain "complete control" of the house. The petition which was filed through advocate Zulfiquar Memon said that Nirupa had left all her properties to Kiran, and Kamal Roy in his last will too named Kiran as the sole owner of the house.

Three months ago, Kiran suffered a setback when the City Civil Court dismissed his application seeking to restrain Yogesh from entering the bedroom. "I stayed with my parents during their last days, when they were tortured by Yogesh and his wife. In my father's Will, which was executed in December 2004, he made me the sole owner of the Nepean Sea Road flat, but allowed my brother and his family to reside there on the condition that they never enter my parents' bedroom," Kiran said.

When the tabloid contacted Yogesh, he wasn't available for a comment. His application submitted to the court said the bedroom was passed to him and Kiran had no share in it. The keys of the bedroom are with Yogesh to make sure his brother didn't "misuse" it.
