Denzel Washington to direct an episode for 'Grey's Anatomy'

Grey's Anatomy will have a new director for this season and it's none other that Denzel Washington. Stepping behind the camera for the first time for the small screen, Oscar winner Denzel Washington will direct an episode for the popular series. 

Washington has directed Antwone Fisher in 2002 and The Great Debaters in 2007. For the 12th season of Grey's Anatomy, he will direct the 9th episode. The plot for the episode is not revealed yet but show's writer and producer Stacy McKee will write the show, reports Variety.

Washington has close ties with show's executive producer, Debbie Allen, for season 12. She is responsible for selecting directors for the season. Allen is known for hiring women directors and crew over men. Talking to Variety, Allen said that she has hired women directors for 10 episodes and is still looking to hire.
