Shah Rukh Khan in and as 'Fan'. That's exactly what can get anyone excited to watch the film. But then again, it isn't another commercial money-spinner. First of all, it's a thriller and thrillers have very limited reach. Secondly, there are no commercial ingredients for the film to work in key mass centres. No heroines, no love songs, no unnecessary romantic drama, Fan is devoid of all this. And that has worked against the film a bit.

Not that it takes away anything from the movie or its stellar performances, but the film that turned out to be the biggest opener of the year so far witnessed a sharp drop on its second day. Fan netted in around Rs 19.20 crore on Friday and had the advantage of a partial holiday as well. On Saturday, the film had a drop in its collections of around 20 percent.

On its second day, the film raked in around Rs 16.50 crore and now the film stands at a domestic two-day total of Rs 35.70 crore, which is not bad, but it isn't earth-shattering as well. But then again, like we said, Fan was never meant to break box office records. The film is witnessing another spike in the collections on Sunday and might record an opening weekend total of around Rs 55 crore net. What will decide the fate of the film is the Monday acid test and we have to wait to see how the film fares on the weekdays.
