2017 is indeed going to be an interesting year ahead. While there have been huge money spinners in Bollywood already in the first two months of the year, the South industry is gearing up for two big, fat global releases too.

SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 has Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Satyaraj, Tamannaah Bhatia and Anushka Shetty whereas Shankar's Robot 2.0 will be led by Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar with Amy Jackson playing the female lead. And with the first reports coming in, Robot 2.0 might have won the first round. Or maybe not! Here's the lowdown!

So, the theatrical rights for 2.0 has been bought by Zee at an exorbitant amount. According to reports, the channel has paid a whopping Rs 110 crore to claim the rights for all languages of the superhero flick.

On the other hand, a report last month had explained how Baahubali 2 has already recovered over Rs 500 crore even before its release. But according to that breakdown, the film's satellite rights were sold for Rs 77 crore. We can't guarantee the authenticity of the value as of now but according to reports, the Hindi version has been sold off at Rs 51 crore whereas the Telugu version has bagged them Rs 26 crore. But we are forgetting that there's something amiss. The Tamil and Malayalam versions' amounts are still left to be calculated and if the total figure of the two versions exceed Rs 33 crore, then Baahubali 2 will have more revenue coming in from satellite rights than 2.0, thereby winning the first round.

Let's wait till the exact figures come out. Till then, Akshay and Rajini fans can be happy with their film's brilliant start!
