This year, Salman Khan has signed only one film — Kabir Khan. We can now confirm that he has also given he nod to Rajkumar Santoshi’s next. They had been in talks for the last few months and Salman has finally given the nod. He reunites with the director, 22 years after working with him on the cult classic Andaz Apna Apna (1994), which saw him co-starring with Aamir Khan.

Says a source, “Salman loved the script and has always been impressed with Rajji’s work. He wanted to work with him and the script is perfect. There will be comedy and action in it. Both Santoshi and Kabir’s films will release next year. Both the scripts are completely different from each other. Santoshi’s film which roll later this year.”

Earlier Santoshi was planning to direct the sequel to Andaz Apna Apna, but wasn’t able to find the right script. After Shahid Kapoor-starrer Phata Poster Nikkla Hero didn’t do well at the box office, Santoshi approached Anil Kapoor for a film based on the play Jis Lahore Nahi Dekhiya Woh Jamiya Nahi, which revolves around a Hindu and Muslim family in Lahore. But the film did not happen. Then the filmmaker wrote this love story which he narrated to Salman and the star wanted to start this immediately.”

According to the source, Santoshi has been regularly been meeting Salman at his Galaxy Apartments residence in Bandra with his team of scriptwriters, to fine tune the script.
