After assisting Karan Johar on Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer My Name is Khan, Varun Dhawan entered Bollywood with Student Of The Year opposite Alia Bhatt in a KJo film that also launched Sidharth Malhotra, in 2012. From playing a teenager in SOTY to transforming into a dark revengeful man in Badlapur, Jr Dhawan has come a long way. The actor has tried different genres and explored different avenues as an actor in a short span of just three years, and I have to say that the actor has managed it all really well. Here are 5 reasons why Varun is one of the front-runners for being the next Gen-Y superstar in Bollywood…

Solo hero

Though the actor started his career with SOTY which had two heroes, David Dhawan’s beta managed to stand out all thanks to his sizzling chemistry with Alia and his camaraderie with Sidharth Malhotra. He managed to carve a niche for himself and did three solo hero films after that – Badlapur, Main Tera Hero and Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. The phenomenal success of these varied films proves that the boy is here to stay!

Good looks

Varun has washboard abs, a ripped physique and he flaunts his hot bod in films as well as magazines. His jaw-dropping photoshoots for magazines make fans go berserk asking for more. The Main Tera Hero actor has a massive fan following on social media. He has over 1.43 million followers on Twitter and over 1.44 million fans on Facebook. With this one thing is for sure, fans can’t get enough of the actor and his good looks.

Fan friendly

Though the actor is still new, his fan following is only increasing with every passing day. The Badlapur actor is quite regular on Twitter unlike quite a few celebs who use social media just to promote their films. Dhawan interacts with his fans, has Q&A sessions with them, posts hot selfies, on location pictures, groupies with fans amongst many other things. Apart from this, he also speaks up on issues and interacts with his industry colleagues on Twitter.

Breaking stereotypes

The actor started his career with a teeny romance – SOTY, but eventually tried his hand at comedy with David Dhawan’s Main Tera Hero. Varun was effortlessly charming in this film. And his comic timing even reminded me of Govinda at times. If you have watched MTH, I am sure you will agree with me. Post comedy, he did something that he is great at – a rom-com, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania opposite the Highway babe. In this film as well, he did a role of a chichora chokra and managed to pull it off with great ease and made girls go gaga on this avatar. After this came one of this year’s biggest hits – Badlapur. This film was literally a gamble for the actor as he had to break off from his mould and portray a grey character. He even aged on screen a rare thing actors his age would attempt and I was glad that Jr Dhawan did it effortlessly. Soon after the film released, he was showered with a lot of appreciation for the hard work he had put in this film.

Keen on learning

The actor will soon be seen opposite Shraddha Kapoor for the very first time in Remo D’Souza’s ABCD 2. The film is a sequel to the dance film Any Body Can Dance. Fans will see VD in a brand new dancing avatar. And we’re certain this one will be no less than a grand treat for his fans. When Jr Dhawan grooves he gets everybody dancing to his tunes.
