A tussle between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government and its bureaucrats has prompted Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia to send out a warning to those not working in the "interest of the people". A day after the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANIC) associations passed a resolution questioning the behaviour of political bosses, Sisodia asked them to stop acting like a political organisation.

Questioning their resolution, Sisodia said why was a resolution over proposals and files that have been delayed for months never passed? "The associations passed a resolution stating that the government misbehaved with its official. It, however, failed to take into account that the same official failed to comply with the orders of a minister and reach a hospital after a man died there due to lack of equipment," Sisodia said.

"They failed to take cognizance of the fact that he cited 'lack of vehicle' as an excuse for not being present when asked to do so by the minister," he added.

Sisodia advised the associations to also take action against their own officials, who have been sitting on files and proposals for months. "From new buses to Mohalla clinics and Aam Aadmi canteen, many proposals have been pending because the officials have been sitting on them. Our government has been chosen by the people and we will continue to work for them. If the officials can't do the same, they are welcome to ask for a transfer," Sisodia said.

"It's a matter of shame that one of these officials is sitting on the promotion file of Olympic medalist Sakshi Malik's father for the last three months. We request the IAS associations to not act as political organisations, and work in the interest of the people," he added. The Deputy CM also threatened action against officials who failed to comply with the government orders.

The IAS and DANIC associations, on Tuesday evening, passed a resolution expressing "anguish and concern at the insults and the use of offensive language against some senior officials by the political executive of Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) in the recent past".
