Fourteen days after JNU student, Najeeb Ahmed went missing under mysterious circumstances, hundreds of varsity students on Friday staged a protest at the Delhi Police Headquarters (PHQ) and submitted a memorandum to police.

Scores of students from JNU, Delhi University, Jamia Millia Islamia, and Ambedkar University along with the family members of Najeeb blocked the Indra Prasth marg and shouted slogans against the Delhi police for their 'callous' and 'ïnsensitive' attitude in handling Najeeb's case.

The agitating students submitted a memorandum to Delhi police and demanded them to take 'serious' efforts in tracing Najeeb.

"Why every time students need to pressurise Delhi police to take action and why do we need to give them lists of dos and don'ts? It clearly shows how inefficient they are," JNUSU president, Mohit Pandey said, adding they have submitted a memorandum to Joint Commissioner of Police (South-Eastern Range) R P Upadhyay.

"Police have not bothered to look into all obvious details of the case and no serious efforts are being made by the Delhi police to trace Najeeb," the memorandum read.

Najeeb Ahmed, a first year MSc student at JNU has been missing since October 15
following an altercaion with some ABVP activists on the night before.

Delhi police had constituted a Special Investigating Team (SIT) to trace the missing student following a direction from Home Minister Rajnath Singh and also announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for any information on Najeeb.
