During the clash between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne, on December 29, Chris Lynn stole the spotlight with a remarkable performance. Lynn hammered four sixes in the match, and one of his shots created quite a buzz as it hit the roof of the stadium but was ruled a six by the on-field umpires.

Typically, when a cricket ball hits the roof in the Big Bash League (BBL) and lands inside the boundary, it is declared a dead ball. However, a recent rule change gives on-field umpires the discretion to decide whether to signal a dead ball or award a six. In Lynn's case, the ball was destined for the top tiers had it not encountered the roof. Umpires Bruce Oxenford and Gerard Abood shared Lynn's perspective, signaling it as a six.

Lynn continued his onslaught, scoring four more sixes and as many fours in his brisk 34-ball innings of 56. He eventually fell victim to Afghan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman after forming an impressive 82-run partnership for the second wicket with opener D'Arcy Short, who contributed 54 runs from 47 balls. Despite a minor collapse, Jamie Overton and Harry Nielsen's cameos helped the Strikers post a competitive total of 177/6 after winning the toss and choosing to bat. In the Renegades' run chase, Quinton de Kock faced a golden duck, and Joe Clarke retired hurt due to hamstring trouble.

On the other hand, Jake Fraser-McGurk dominated the powerplay overs, reaching his half-century in just 22 balls with two sixes. Shaun Marsh joined the scoring spree, hitting two sixes and a four. Although Fraser-McGurk's catch was dropped in the 11th over, he was dismissed later by James Bazley after scoring 70 from 37 balls.
Marsh continued the assault, reaching his half-century in 29 balls before falling for 54 runs from 33 balls, including three fours and four sixes. In the penultimate over, the Strikers secured victory with eight balls to spare and four wickets in hand.
