Jatin Paranjpe was a well known face in the 1990s and a legend in his own right in the cricketing circles of Mumbai. He once chased a dream to represent India shoulder-to-shoulder with cricketing great Sachin Tendulkar. He ended up being part of the India cricket team made up of stalwarts like Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly. Injury cut Paranjpe’s promising career short but not his spirit to make a mark. Today he is a businessman behind a multimillion dollar company aiming to disrupt a Rs 14,200 crore market in India.

1972-born Paranjpe’s cricketing career began alongside Tendulkar, whom he famously pipped to the coveted Junior Cricketer of the Year of the Bombay Cricket Association in 1986-87 season. His first class career began four years later in the 1991-92 season of the Ranji Trophy. Paranjpe took another six years to break into the Indian men’s international cricket team. Making his India debut in 1998, Paranjpe had a short stint in the blue jersey, highlighted by a match-winning unbeaten knock against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Sahara Cup. On a high with the critical innings, Paranjpe’s career ended with an unfortunate ankle injury.

A few years after eventually retiring from cricket, Paranjpe began his second innings. This time, as a businessman, he ventured into the sports industry. He had an executive stint with sports giant Nike in Europe which helped him transition from playing cricket to the business of sports. He then founded his own business, KheloMore in 2017. The Mumbai-based company aims to use tech to disrupt the Indian sports industry with a market size of Rs 14,200 crore.

The sports tech firm is in the academy and coaching aggregator segment. Paranjpe has received the backing of several investors which include fantasy gaming platform Dream11, Eruditus founder Ashwin Damera's Damera Ventures, and angel investors Vijay Taparia, Shripad Nadkarni, Vinay Sanghi and Gaurav Deepak. Paranjpe is married to star Bollywood actor Sonali Bendre’s sister Gandhali. The cricketer-turned businessman has also been a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) selector.
