The 1000-crore club in Indian cinema is no longer an exclusive one but there was a time when being a part of a film like this was considered a stupendous achievement. In the last year alone, four films have grossed over Rs 1000 crore worldwide with actresses like Deepika Padukone, Nayanthara, and Srinidhi Shetty headlining films that have breached this mark. But, do you know who was the first actress to have starred in a film that founded the 100 crore club?

The 1000-crore club in Indian cinema was established in May 2017 when SS Rajamouli’s 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' was released in the theatres. The film was made on an estimated budget of Rs 250 crore and was the most expensive Indian film at the time of its release. Upon its release, it grossed Rs 1,737.68–1,810.60 crore worldwide. 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion' became the first-ever Indian film to gross over Rs 1,000 crore, in just ten days. The record was broken later that year by Dangal, which saw a belated release in China. Alongside Prabhas and Rana Daggubati – was the film’s female lead Tamannaah Bhatia who headlined the magnum opus.

Tamannaah Bhatia, born in 1989, is an Indian actress who primarily works in Telugu, Tamil, and Hindi cinema. Tamannaah has been a part of the film industry for close to 20 years and has appeared in more than 80 films.

In 2005, Tamannaah started her career in the entertainment industry by starring in the music video Lafzo Mein from Abhijeet Sawant's album. She later made her acting debut as the female lead in the Hindi film 'Chand Sa Roshan Chehra'. That same year, she entered Telugu cinema with 'Sree' and Tamil cinema with 'Kedi' in 2006.

Tamannaah is now all set to star in the Tamil horror-comedy 'Aranmanai 4'. She will also play a key role in the Hindi action-drama 'Vedaa', sharing the screen with John Abraham.

Tamannaah Bhatia entered the 1000 crore club with 'Baaubali 2: The Conclusion' which also starred Anushka Shetty in a pivotal role.

Since SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, five other Indian films have grossed over Rs 1000 crore. These include 'Dangal', 'RRR', 'KGF: Chapter 2', 'Pathaan', and 'Jawan'.
