Riding high on the success of Padmaavat which has become his highest grosser so far, actor Ranveer Singh has also announced the release date of his upoming film, Gully Boy.  Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar's directorial venture which also features Alia Bhatt in the lead is all set to hit screens in February 2019.

Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt took to the Twitter to give us an thought provoking glimpse of their look in the film and wrote, " 14 February 2019' Wearing a hijab on her head, with scratch mark on her cheeks, the gloomy expressions of Alia Bhatt are hard to be missed. Unlike his barbaric avatar in Padmaavat, Ranveer also looks lost in his dreams.

The film is based on the lives of street rappers in Mumbai. The actor has been prepping for his role for a long time now which also required him to become leaner again. Ranveer gave up on his beefed up look for Alaudin Khilji in Bhansali's film and lost seven kilos in three weeks. He said,  “I was 81 kilos and I had to look much leaner for Zoya’s film. So, I had to lose all the muscle mass. I lost around seven kilos in three weeks and now, I weigh 74 kilos.” The actor is currently shooting with Alia Bhatt in Dharavi in Mumbai.

Apart from Gully Boy, Ranveer also has Rohit Shetty and Karan Johar's Simmba and Kabir Khan's 83 in the pipeline. In an interview to DNA After Hrs earlier, he said, "I’m just lucky that these films came to me in whatever order they did. Whether it’s Gully Boy, Simmba or 83! Gully Boy was offered first. Then, Rohit (Shetty) sir approached me for his film and then came 83 (the Kapil Dev biopic). If I’ve to give credit to myself, then it’s just that I’ve created my own luck and have worked hard enough to be a recognised actor. Therefore, I was offered these movies. I’m blessed to be working with these fine filmmakers in such different genres who are so passionate about the stories that they are telling. That’s the most crucial thing for me. If I ever find myself in a position where I see things aren’t happening theek se, then I get affected."
