With the mega-success of Gadar 2, producers JP Dutta and Nidhi Dutta are inspired to make the sequel to his 26-year-old blockbuster war drama Border.
Sunny Deol is rewriting box office history with his latest actioner Gadar 2. As audiences are craving to watch their favourite actor more and more, the makers of Border, have now planned to bring the sequel to their blockbuster war drama, Border 2 with him. Yes, the craze and phenomenon Gadar 2 and Sunny Deol created have inspired director-producer JP Dutta and his daughter Nidhi Dutta to bring the sequel to the 26-year-old blockbuster.
As per the report of Pinkvilla, the story for Border 2 was ready in the past few years, and currently, the producers are in talks to bring a major studio backing the project. The portal quoted a source that said, "Border is among the most historic blockbusters of Indian Cinema and is easily a film that warrants a part two. The team has been discussing the probability of making a Border sequel for the last 2 to 3 years and everything has now finally fallen into place as the team is all set to make an official announcement of Border 2 in a fortnight." The source further added that the makers have identified a tale from the 1971 Indo-Pak war that is untold, and they are planning to adapt it for the big screen.
The 1997 highest-grossing blockbuster stars an ensemble cast including Sunny with Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry and more. The makers of Border 2 are planning to retain Sunny from the prequel, and he will be supported by actors from younger generations. The source told the portal, "Being a heavy-on action film, the team will be casting actors from the younger generation rather than bringing together the entire troop of Border. Sunny Deol will probably be the only actor from Border, who will be a part of Border 2 as well. It’s all in the early stages at the moment and more updates shall come our way once the film is officially announced very soon."
As far as Gadar 2 is concerned, the Anil Sharma-directed was released in cinemas on August 11. Till now, the movie has grossed Rs 300 crore in India, and it heading towards Rs 350 crores.
