The high court on Friday issued notices to the Lok Ayukta police with regard to two anticipatory bail applications filed by former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa pertaining to two complaints filed against him in the Lok Ayukta special court alleging his involvement in illegal land denotifications.

Yeddyurappa has sought bail on the grounds that the two complaints are initiated by his political opponents with an objective to humiliate him. He has also undertaken to abide by the conditions imposed by the court in the event of being granted bail. Yeddyurappa has also undertaken to assist in fair trial of the case and has assured that he would cooperate with the court.

The bail pleas came up before Justice H Billappa, who issued notices to the Lokayukta police and the complainants, Jayakumar Hiremath and Krishna Reddy.

In the first complaint, advocate Jayakumar Hiremath alleged that Yeddyurappa had illegally denotified land (23 guntas) in Lottegollahalli acquired by the BDA, for the formation of Raj Mahal Vilas Layout to benefit home minister R Ashoka and had registered it in his favour. The complaint mentions Yeddyurappa as the secondaccused.

Lok Ayukta special court judge, Justice NK Sudhindra Rao, on October 20 had directed the Lok Ayukta superintendent of police, Bangalore Urban, to conduct investigations.

Complaints galore
In another complaint, software engineer Krishna Reddy alleged that Yeddyurappa, during his tenure as chief minister, had misused his powers to secure undue advantage for his aides, including housing minister V Somanna and staunchsupporters.
Justice Rao had, on November 22, directed the Lok Ayukta superintendent of police, Bangalore Urban, to conduct the investigations on this complaint, too.
