Tickets for the much-awaited heavy metal band, Metallica, on October 30 are all sold out to ensure full-capacity at Palace Grounds. But will the event be held?

DNA Entertainment Networks, the event organisers, have not yet sought police permission, sources confirmed to DNA. Even Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), T Suneel Kumar, has confirmed that no permission has yet been sought from the police department for the Metallica’s mega event, ‘Rock in India’. He said: “A concert of this size to be held in this city requires the organisers to seek police permission and also police protection. I have only been reading media reports about this band performing in Bangalore, but no one has yet sought any permission from the police department. Normally permission for such a large event has to be approved and cleared at least 45 days before the event.”

With just 23 days to go for the event, the police officials say it provides them little time to organise a large contingent of police and traffic personnel to ensure that routine life around Palace Grounds is not disturbed. At least 20,000 are expected to congregate on Palace Grounds.

However, regardless of whether the event will ultimately be held or not, black ticketing and second sale of tickets at very high premiums is already taking place.

Haroon Kamaal, working at a software firm in Bangalore, told DNA “I purchased about ten tickets on the internet from “ticketgenie” – each ticket costing me Rs2,750 and then posted a status on  Facebook saying I had picked up these tickets. After a few days, I see hundreds of comments from people asking me to sell these tickets at exorbitant rates over and above what I had bought them for. So I decided to sell two of them for Rs15,000 each!”

This is not restricted to the Bangalore event alone, but is also happening over the Gurgaon event. Metallica is scheduled to perform in Gurgaon on October 28 at Leisure Valley Grounds; the event is named “F1 Rocks India”.
Tickets are being sold in black online and money exchanged at a feverish pace.

Interestingly, even the Gurgaon event has not yet received permission from the police department there.
