Vehicles barred at Ulsoorgate during Karaga

From Friday 4 pm to Saturday 2 pm, motorists will have to take alternative routes and park at designated places.

Traffic will be restricted in  Ulsoorgate from 4 pm on Friday till 2 pm on Saturday as thousands of people are expected to throng the area for the Bangalore Karaga festival.

The traffic police said thousands, including VIPs, will gather for Karaga, which will start at Shri Dharmaraya Swamy Temple at Tigalarapet. The roads near the temple, including Pailwan Krishnappa Lane, OTC Road and Nagarthapet Main Road, will be closed for vehicles.

The traffic police will arrange alternative routes during Karaga to avoid traffic jams on Avenue Road, City Market and surrounding areas. The Karaga procession will start around midnight on Friday and return to the temple at 6 am. The procession will go through Nagarthapet, Ulsoor Pete and Ganigarpet to enter Avenue Road.

Pujas will be help at Eeshwara Temple on Avenue Road and then at Kote Anjaneya Temple on KR Road. After the puja, the Karaga procession will move to City Market Circle and enter Ranasinghpet through Police Road. It will proceed towards Annamma Temple via Akkipet, Haralepet, OTC Road, Mastan Saheb Darga, Balepet Main Road, KG Road and NC Road. Later, the Veerakumaras will visit Chowdeshwari Temple, and then head out on Kilari Road, Mysore Bank Circle and Avenue Road Cross to reach Tuppadanjaneya Swamy Temple on RT Street.

The Karaga procession will also visit Kumbarpet, Gollarapet, Tigalarapet and Sunakalpet and will return to Dharmaraya Swamy Temple at 6 am.
