It is not just Ekta Kapoor’s K-serials on TV that can leave people mesmerised for hours. Soap opera artistes can have the same effect even during the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) elections. Campaigning in support of Congress candidate GR Murali contesting from Basavanagudi ward, actor Mohan Juneja, TV artistes Roopa Hassan and Shilpa asked the residents of NR Colony for their votes.

More than 50 people from Thyagarajanagar came to NR Colony to participate in the public meeting. Traffic was disrupted as the public meeting was held near an intersection. Congress supporters also went around distributing pamphlets to people.
K Chandrashekar, a Congress candidate contesting from Hanumanthnagar also campaigned in support of GR Murali. RV Deshpande was also present to address the crowd.

Glad that the elections are finally being held after a gap of eight years, Chandrashekar N, a resident of NR Colony, said: “This would definitely help people as we need a change from the current administrative system.”

BJP supporters went on a door-to-door campaign while JD(S) campaigned with the help of their women’s wing and students’ wing for their candidate SV Jnanesh.

“In this election, it is going to be a fight between the Congress and BJP. We have to see who leads,” said Ramakrishna P, a resident of Tyagaraja Nagar. Many domestic workers were distributing pamphlets. “We have been a part of the campaign for the last one week.
