Trio serve poor at temple, die while driving back home

Three persons from Bangalore died and eight injured when two cars collided head-on on National Highway 4 near Nelamangala on Sunday evening.

The victims were returning to the city after feeding the poor at a temple.

The accident took place in Doddakeri, near T Begur, at 5.45 pm when a SUV heading towards Bangalore collided with a car that was leaving the city. Preliminary investigation indicated that the accident took place because the SUV was
speeding to overtake a bus.

The deceased are Huccha Hanumanthaiah, 55, a head constable who was deployed at Corporation Bank; his wife Gayatri, 47, and Rajappa, 28. They were travelling in the SUV.
Besides, four others travelling in the SUV and four in the car were injured. They were rushed to different hospitals.

The police said Hanumanthaiah’s family had organised mass feeding programme at Bailanjaneya Swamy Temple near Shivagange in Tumkur to celebrate Ramanavami.

The accident took place when the family was returning to Bangalore after the mass feeding programme.

2 teens killed in accident

Two teenagers died instantly and one was injured on Saturday when their two-wheeler hit a BMTC bus on BDA Layout Road near Byadarahalli (Ullala) in Tavarekere police station limits of Ramanagaram district.

The deceased have been identified as Suhas, 18, a
class X student, and Subash, 14, a class VI student. Koushik, the elder brother of Subash, was seriously injured in the accident.

According to the police, the trio had gone for a ride on a scooter.

Suhas, who was driving the scooter, lost control and hit a bus that was going towards Ullala, at 1 pm. Owing to serious head injuries, Suhas and Subash died instantly. Koushik was shifted to a nearby hospital.

Koushik, along with his brother Subash, had visited Suhas after completing their exams.

They decided to go on a scooter ride, when the accident took place. Tavarekere police have arrested the bus driver Devanna and seized the bus.
