Three persons have been killed in separate road accidents, including one wherein a SUV knocked down a welder, since Saturday night.

The welder was killed near Chowdeshwari bus stop on Sumanahalli Ring Road, in Vijayanagar traffic police limits.

Muniswamy, 48, was crossing the road when a speeding SUV ran him over on Saturday, killing him instantly. The SUV driver was arrested.

In another incident, a person died after a motorcycle ran him over near Hebbal police station on Saturday night. Sudarshan, 28, and his friend Sandeep were returning to their home from Kodigehalli on a motorcycle when they met with an accident. Sudarshan, who was riding the motorcycle, rammed into a median. As he fell on the road, another motorcycle ran him over, killing him instantly.

The motorcyclist fled after the incident. Sandeep, too, was injured.
In an accident on Sunday, a 23-year-old MBA student was killed when the two-wheeler he was riding collided head-on with a bus on Bannerghatta Road. The victim, Sumit Poojari, hailed from Ahmedabad. On Sunday, he went to the railway station to book a ticket for a trip back home.

After booking the ticket, he visited Meenakshi temple on Bannerghatta Road, from where he headed towards his apartment. He collided with a bus when he swerved to avoid a pothole. Mico Layout police have seized the bus and are on the lookout for its driver, who fled after the accident.

Software engineer commits suicide

A 27-year-old software engineer committed suicide by hanging at her residence in Mattikere.

The incident came to light on Sunday. The reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained. Shubha Varadaraj Hatwar, who hailed from Sirsi, was employed with an IT company in Whitefield and lived in a rented accommodation in Mattikere.

She had not stepped out of her house for the past four days. When a foul smell began emanating from the house, the neighbours informed the police, who broke open the door and found her hanging.

“The reason for the suicide is yet to be ascertained. She has left behind a suicide note, stating that she is responsible for her extreme step. She has given her bank account details in the note and has requested her parents to pay her credit card bills,” said the police.

Her parents have been informed about the incident and are expected to reach the city on Monday. Yeshwantpur police have registered a case of unnatural death.
